Board of Directors

About the Board:

As an American independent school with a French curriculum, the Austin International School is governed by a Board of Directors.  Board members volunteer their time and contribute resources to the school.  They do not gain monetarily or otherwise from any aspect of the Board's activities.

Mission:

The Board of Directors is responsible for the general and long-term policies of real estate, fundraising, business and financial matters.  This includes:

▪ Legal responsibilities for the school's activities

▪ Preparation of the school's mission statement and oversight that it guides

  school policy

▪ Review and maintenance of the bylaws and policies, which are consistent

with the school's mission and guidelines set by the State of Texas

▪ Compliance with applicable laws and regulations

▪ Approval of the school policy, which the school's administration implements

▪ Accountability for the financial well-being of the school, including capital

assets, operating budgets, fundraising, and endowment

▪ Liaison with the Mission Laïque Française

Composition:

The board is composed of members of the community-at-large, parents, plus representatives of the French Government: The Consul General, The Consul Honoraire of France in Austin and the Cultural Attaché.  The school's Executive Director also attends the meeting, however, he does not have a vote.

Procedure:

The Board of Directors meets (usually in English) on the first Tuesday of each month.  Once approved, minutes are available on our website.  The Board has several committees, which include Public Affairs, Facilities, Education/Curriculum, and Finance.
