Board of Directors
About the Board:
As an American independent school with a French curriculum, the Austin
International School is governed by a Board of Directors. Board members
volunteer their time and contribute resources to the school. They do not
gain monetarily or otherwise from any aspect of the Board's activities.
Mission:The Board of Directors is responsible for the general and
long-term policies of real estate, fundraising, business and financial matters.
This includes:

Legal responsibilities for the school's activities
▪
Preparation of the school's mission statement and oversight that it guides
school policy
▪
Review and maintenance of the bylaws and policies, which are consistent
with the school's mission and
guidelines set by the State of Texas
▪
Compliance with applicable laws and regulations
▪
Approval of the school policy, which the school's administration implements
▪
Accountability for the financial well-being of the school, including capital
assets, operating budgets, fundraising,
and endowment
▪
Liaison with the Mission Laïque Française
Composition:
The board is composed of members of
the community-at-large, parents, plus representatives of the French Government:
The Consul General, The Consul Honoraire of France in Austin and the Cultural Attaché.
The school's Executive Director also attends the meeting, however, he does not
have a vote.
Procedure:
The Board of Directors meets (usually
in English) on the first Tuesday of each month. Once approved, minutes are
available on our website. The Board has several committees, which include
Public Affairs, Facilities, Education/Curriculum, and Finance.
Committees:
Parents are invited to participate on
these committees. It is not necessary to be a member of the Board to do
so. The request can be made to the Chair of the Committee.

- this committee is charged
with ensuring that AIS educational standards are developed and
maintained.

is charged with overseeing the
finances of the school.

▪ Community Affairs and Fundraising Committee - this
committee is
charged with promoting greater awareness of AIS
in the Austin
community in order to increase interest and enrollment at the
school.

▪ Facilities Committee - this committee is
charged with verifying the
daily operations and prospecting for future locations for the school
and is tasked with soliciting
corporate donations and developing
strategies to secure additional funds beyond tuition.
